Terms of Service

TL;DR — You may use HowlAlert for personal and commercial purposes. Don't misuse it, don't reverse-engineer it, and understand that it's provided as-is. We are not affiliated with Anthropic.

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using HowlAlert (the "App") or the associated Cloudflare Worker service (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a binding legal agreement between you ("User", "you") and MrDemonWolf ("we", "us", "our").

2. Description of service

HowlAlert is a software application that:

Reads Claude Code usage journal files stored locally on your Mac
Aggregates token and cost metrics
Delivers push notifications to registered Apple devices when configured usage thresholds are met
Stores usage history on our Cloudflare-hosted backend

HowlAlert is an independent developer tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Anthropic PBC. Claude Code is a product of Anthropic PBC. All rights to Claude Code belong to Anthropic PBC.

3. License

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

Install and use the App on Apple devices you own or control
Access the Service solely for your personal or internal business use

This license does not include the right to:

Sublicense, sell, resell, or commercially distribute the App
Modify, decompile, disassemble, or reverse-engineer the App
Remove or obscure any proprietary notices
Use the App to build a competing product or service

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

Use the Service in any way that violates applicable local, national, or international law
Use the Service to violate Anthropic's Terms of Service or Claude Code's usage policies
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our servers, databases, or infrastructure
Transmit malware, viruses, or any other malicious code via the Service
Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the API endpoints in a manner that exceeds reasonable personal use
Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation

5. Account and authentication

HowlAlert uses Sign in with Apple for authentication. You are responsible for:

Maintaining the security of your Apple ID
All activity that occurs through your account
Notifying us immediately at hello@mrdemonwolf.com if you suspect unauthorized access

We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

6. Intellectual property

The App, including its source code, design, graphics, and documentation, is owned by MrDemonWolf and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property rights to you.

"Claude Code" and "Anthropic" are trademarks of Anthropic PBC. Their use in this documentation is nominative and does not imply affiliation.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
Usage metrics will be accurate (they are estimates based on Claude Code's journal format, which may change)
Push notifications will be delivered within any specific timeframe

8. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL MRDEMONWOLF BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS, OR (B) $10 USD.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain liability limitations. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the minimum extent permitted by law.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MrDemonWolf from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

Your use of the Service in violation of these Terms
Your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights
Any content or data you submit through the Service

10. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party platforms including Cloudflare and Apple APNs. Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the actions or content of third-party services.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms. Upon termination, your license to use the App ends immediately.

You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the App and deleting your account via in-app settings.

12. Changes to terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which MrDemonWolf operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved informally by contacting legal@mrdemonwolf.com. If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in the courts of the applicable jurisdiction.

If you are an EU consumer, you may also have rights under local consumer protection laws that these Terms do not override.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
